Herbalism and the Need for Advocacy

Date: July 6, 2011
Time: 12:00 am - 12:00 am
Teacher Name and Titles: Greg Schmidt
Schmidt, Greg

Greg Schmidt will discuss health freedom and state/local regulations which impact health/personal freedoms and food freedom as well as how big business is misusing national, state and local authorities to limit or even deny access to healthy food under the guise of public protection. These two areas are inextricably linked.

State and local regulations govern occupational regulations. Greg will clarify the different levels of regulation and various occupations that have sought regulation, i.e. massage therapy. Often times these regulations run counter to natural health freedoms, and they could possibly impact herbal practices.

Greg Schmidt is currently President of the Minnesota Natural Health Legal Reform Project (www.mnhlrp.org). He has also been Vice President and was a co–founder of the organization in 1997. MNHLRP is a consumer based, 501c4 advocacy group for natural health. The Food Freedom Project and Minnesota Moms for Raw Milk are initiatives of MNHLRP. Greg has been self–employed as a carpenter since 1997. Previously he was co–owner of Silver Bullet Design Build. He has an M.F.A from the University of Minnesota and a B.A. from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul.
