The class entitled “Herbs as Food & Medicine” will cover the basic herbal history of medicine systems throughout the world, and how the herbs that were once a major part of their culture, are still very useful in our western world, as food and medicine. Examples of how to use these herbs in the form of teas, salves, food and beauty–product recipes will be include/provided.

Jennifer Heinzel is a freelance herbal writer, community herbalist, medicine maker and presenter. She specializes in writing about herbal folklore, and finding evidence that proves traditional uses of herbs. She has written plant profiles and about herbal experiences for the Chequamegon co–op Grapevine, United Plant Savers journal, the Herb Companion blog (Now Mother Earth Living) one article was a ‘editors pick of the month’, and another a ‘top 5 article’ of the month; she also writes for her personal blog “Thymes Ancient Remedies”. She has presented at her college on the history of herbalism, and at the Minneapolis Convention Center on “Herbs for Winter”, and taught classes on beauty product making. Recently she completed Lise Wolff’s “3 Seasons of Herbal Medicine” course, has her own Etsy shop Thymes Ancient Remedy, and is working at Shady Acres herbal farm, in Chaska, MN.
