The Pharmacy In My Backyard
Would you like to cut back on remedies you have to purchase? Would you like to just walk out to your backyard or patio to gather some herbs for teas or medicinal preparations? This presentation will discuss choosing, buying, propagating, and maintaining/nurturing plants on the United Plant Savers “at risk” list as well as others used in a variety of healing systems, but not available for wildcrafting in our area. The focus will be primarily on the cultivation of medicinal plants, with minimal reference to their energetics and medicinal uses. LuAnn sells plants at her home in Northfield and will have some available for purchase at the meeting
LuAnn Raadt, raised on a farm in southern Minnesota, grew up with a love of plants and growing things. She now happily gathers many of the “weeds” her family once tried to eradicate and uses them in remedies for common physical ailments and imbalances. Trained under Lise Wolff and other local herbalists, this farmer’s daughter particularly enjoys identifying plants, learning their botanical markers, and growing a variety of medicinal herbs that are not readily available or are considered at-risk in the wild. She is also passionate about introducing others to the fascinating world of herbal remedies and teas and teaching them how to make and use remedies for themselves.
